Sunset Embassy kicks out urban prairie rock jams with sounds from the 80's/90's vibing on today's feelings. These ambassadors of the setting sun surround you like the valley with hot summer guitar licks and dreamy cool evening echoes.
Sunset Embassy pulls inspiration from strong women and seeks to diversify the music scene in Saskatchewan and beyond. The band is fronted by two Indigenous women: Anishinabe guitar player and songwriter Jori Cachene (she/her), and Cree vocalist Sophie Littlechief Carteri (she/her), and is rounded out by three queer musicians: bassist Charity Marsh (she/her), keyboardist and poet Shayna Stock (she/her), and drummer Collette Parks (they/them).
Based in Treaty 4 Territory aka Regina, Saskatchewan, Sunset Embassy delivers music to dodge potholes to. Formed at GRR! music camp in 2019 out of dreams of forever.
The Whats are an indie rock band (mostly) born and raised in the prairies. They formed in 2021 as high school students, and continue to write, practice, and record in their drummer’s garage. They recently opened for Surf Dads at The Exchange alongside Library Voices. Their sound, inspired by The Strokes and The Regrettes, is fresh, energetic, and fast-paced, but the most apparent constant in their music is their fiercely feminist perspective and politically-inspired lyricism. As children, they would have been described as both ‘little terrors’ and ‘a joy to have in class’. They can’t wait to release some tunes this year, disturb the peace, and continue jamming together as four best buds.
Welcome to the journey of Cupid's Heart- the duo that is out to win yours!
A combination of the unruly and the refined- Cupid’s Heart brings cello, electric guitar, and drum machine together amidst belting poetic and moody lyrics. Previously described as “Chrissie Hynde Pretenders vibes with a pinch of Nirvana”, the band fits alternative rock like a baggy sweater. Cupid’s Heart expresses some of the complexities that go along with love and life, and does so from a queer female perspective.
Formed in the spring of 2022, Cupid's Heart has already played an impressive amount of live shows and festivals, including Ness Creek Festival this summer 2023. Composed of guitarist and vocalist, Emma Jean, and cellist Stacey Dunn, the pair have an electric stage presence and raw authenticity that has shone on stages across Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC, and Ontario.
The pair are currently based in Prince Albert, SK and are actively performing within Canada.
Cupid's Heart released their debut EP, Atrium in July of 2023.
DJ Dyke Boyfriend makes music that delights at the frayed edges, where neon light streams in through the seams of existence. Glitchy, propulsive, and layered, her mixes radiate a fresh aliveness for dance floors, making sonic space for joy, desire and limitless dreaming.
DJ Dyke Boyfriend is the deejay project of Treaty 4/Regina-based multimedia and performance artist Jaye Kovach. She came to deejaying through making mixes for their many crushes and now he’s here to tell you how she really feels with a mix of queercore, electroclash, hyper pop, and hardcore techno/industrial/ebm jams.
