Gil & Wil is a femme-driven country duo based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, made up of members Holly Gilroy (she/her) & Aiden McRorie Wilson (she/her). The influence from prairie roots is heavily audible throughout the variety of western, bluegrass, folk, and old-time tunes each setlist holds. Bringing spice-filled original songs to the stage alongside well-placed classics, the two seamlessly blend their voices to create “harmonies so tight and in-tune that it puts the rest of the world to shame,” (NSMZ, 2024). Gil & Wil have been lucky to collaborate with many first-rate musician friends since their inception in 2022, and have opened for artists including Wolf Willow, Mariel Buckley, Amy Nelson, and The Bellamy Brothers. Noted by many as an up-and-coming group to watch in Saskatchewan, the duo will release their first EP, A Siren’s Tale, produced by Rec Hall Studios (Saskatoon, SK) in early 2025. Joining the two onstage is Regina-based violin and fiddle virtuoso Karley Parovsky. Karley is a composer/arranger, teacher, and instrumentalist who plays with the likes of Belle Plaine, Wolf Willow, Jeffrey Straker, and more.
Emily Dubois is a musically ambitious fiddler, originally from Langbank, Saskatchewan.
Emily’s affection for the fiddle started early; regularly attending youth fiddle camps like the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party, Emily was exposed to multiple fiddling styles from a variety of notable Canadian players such as Ivonne Hernandez, Shane Cook, Calvin Vollrath, Troy MacGillivray, Liz Carroll, and many more. Fiddle-camps nurtured Emily’s passion for collaboration, performance, and her own evolution to mentoring and teaching young fiddlers. This led her to study music with Ivonne Hernandez and Daniel Lapp in Victoria BC, all while performing with groups like Coastline and Black Angus, and continuing to hone her own skills as a teacher. Now, since her move back to SK, she performs frequently in and around Regina, and runs the Flatland Fiddling Studio where she teaches lessons to all ages and levels. She is beyond excited to be back in the SK fiddling scene and doing her part to sustain it!
Emily will be instructing at both FiddlyNess and the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party this Summer, then will head to Kamloops to compete for her third time in the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition. In between teaching and performing, she is preparing to record her first EP of completely original music. For more on Emily Dubois or her teaching studio, please check out www.emilyduboismusic.com!
