About The Local Group:

Taking their name from the cluster of galaxies containing the Milky Way, the Local Group plays music of astronomical proportions. With their next album (Produced by Clayton Linthicum of Kacy & Clayton) set to be released on June 17th via Grey Records, this young Saskatoon-based quartet puts their own unique spin on hard-driving traditional bluegrass, while seamlessly blending in their original songs and their passion for country, Celtic, and Canadiana. Featuring mandolin, bluegrass banjo, flatpicking guitar, and upright bass, The Local Group showcases hot instrument picking, tight 3-part harmonies, and a mixed bag of instruments including fiddle, harmonica, penny whistle and triangle. Their show has been described as “tight and charmingly zany” and is guaranteed to take you out of this world!

Gigging regularly across the prairies for four years, they have played the Ness Creek Music Festival, Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and more. They've opened for Corb Lund in small town Cadillac, Saskatchewan and have entertained at just about any other kind of show you can think of: house concerts, dive bars, schools, theatres, weddings and old-time dances. They'll be touring all throughout Western Canada this summer, making music and memories wherever they go.

About The Alley Dawgs:

The "stage" is a luxury for the Alley Dawgs—they cut their teeth on the barroom floors of juke joints, dive bars, and honky tonks all around Saskatchewan. Typically a 4 piece, or maybe a five piece (with fiddle), the Alley Dawgs work hard to represent the best of 20th century country & western music in the modern era. They hope you bring your best pair of boots and come ready to dance!

(The Alley Dawgs are thrilled and honoured to be sharing a bill with the Local Group, and would like to be the first to welcome them to our Honky Tonk Town. We think they're the best players and even nicer gentlemen.)
