The Regina Musical Club invites you to get "Up Close & Personal!”, with a new interactive, educational concert series that introduces the instruments of the orchestra. This is your chance to get to know the strings, brass, and woodwind instruments close up! Featuring musicians of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, hear professionals introduce their instruments, play music that shows off what they do best, and answer your questions about what it's like to play them.

Meet the Woodwinds! on Friday, March 6th at 5:30pm @ the Artesian featuring the principal woodwind players of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, Marie-Noelle Berthelet (flute), Tamsin Lorraine Johnston (oboe), Hyonsuk Kim (clarinet), and Kristy Tucker (bassoon). Get to know the woodwind instruments of the orchestra up close with chamber music by Beethoven, Françaix, Ibert, and more! Listeners will get to know each instrument individually as well as hear the many ways in which the sounds combine and interact to produce new colours. Come see first-hand how the woodwinds are the “storytellers of the orchestra” through rhythm and melody, and the ways in which their music can spark joy, humour, and whimsy.

Meet the Strings! on Friday, February 6th at 5-6pm @ the Conservatory (room 210) featuring the Horizon String Quartet: Amy Hillis (violin), Jeremy Buzash (violin), Erin Hillis (viola), and Karla Hillis (cello). Get to know the string instruments up close and learn more about their roles in both a string quartet and the orchestra. Experience the virtuosity of the violin with “The Bumblebee”, the beauty of the cello with “The Swan”, and the cheerfulness of the viola with Dvorak. Plus music by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Bartok, Taylor Swift and a special version of Star Wars!
Meet the Horns! on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7:30pm @ the Artesian in partnership with New Dance Horizons featuring the Regina Horn Quartet: Richard Burdick, Wendy Tsymbal, Alison Cushway, and Sharla Benoit. This program titled “The French Horn from Bach to the Future” will showcase authentic horns from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, offering a fascinating demonstration of their historical evolution and unique sounds. They will also play some jazz compositions and familiar tunes including from popular soundtracks like Frozen, KPop Demon Hunters, and How to Train Your Dragon! New Dance Horizons' Robin Poitras will also give a special performance with RSO Principal Horn, Richard Burdick, to his own arrangement of Bob Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind", merging graceful movement with evocative horn music for a truly memorable experience.

In addition to the public concerts, the RMC will also be taking this educational series to elementary schools in Regina including the Crescents School (Feb. 5th), St. Theresa Elementary School (Feb. 6th), and St. Matthew School (March 4th).
