About Mary Liv:

Olivia is an emerging artist, performing old time and original music as well as teaching traditional fiddle, banjo, and guitar styles. Her performances have a balance of classic tunes and songs as well as wonderful originals sharing funny stories and true heartfelt stories from her life. Be ready to laugh and maybe cry while you listen to hear sing you a truthful story or rip a fast fiddle tune! She’s sure to get you dancing or tapping your toes!

Oliva started playing fiddle at the age of 5 and has fallen in love with many different styles of music since then. She has been playing with Five Guys Named Dave for over 2 years where she plays banjo and fiddle. Olivia has also recently played with bands and artists such as The Local Group, Eliza Mary Doyle, Jake Vaadeland, and Justin Labrash. She has also started a duo with her sister, Mary Liv and Emmy Lou, where she plays American old time and bluegrass standards along with some originals written by both her sister, Emmy Lou and herself. With all this on the go, she keeps herself very busy performing!

No matter how many shows Olivia plays, she makes sure to have time to teach. This is one of her favourite things to do. She loves being able to see her students improve and get so excited about the music that they share a love for. Olivia teaches fiddle, banjo, and guitar privately in Saskatoon and area. She also gives occasional workshops through local music societies. Olivia has mentored and taught at camps such as the Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old Time Music Camp. She also teaches music through CAMP Sask Arts, where she gets the privilege to teach students of all ages in remote and underserved communities. She spent 7 months last year in Stanley Mission and had a wonderful time teaching fiddle, guitar and many other instruments to ages 6 and up, she can’t wait to go back! Olivia loves this work because she gets to share her love for the music and meet so many wonderful people!

Olivia is releasing her first fiddle album, Fiddlin’ Around, in October 2023. This album includes many canadian old time classics as well as bluegrass/old time favourites and even a few original fiddle tunes! She is very proud to have her mother and sister on the album as well as some other wonderful musicians such as Aryn Murray, Jaxon Lalonde, Joel Rohs, and Michael Taylor. She is very excited to be releasing this album and can’t wait for you to hear it!
