About The Prairie Joggers:
The Prairie Joggers are a gritty folk-rock band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Blending warm electric guitar, raw vocals and dampened drums, the Joggers form a thick vintage sound that cushions their bleak but not entirely hopeless lyrical themes. What the band lacks in bells and whistles they make up for with a sincere sense of nostalgia that agrees with their charismatic live performances and minimalistic approach to instrumentals.
Recorded from the comfort of their basement home studio, The Prairie Joggers self produced debut album is all about love, loss and getting old while carrying on through life with the weight of these experiences. Weight of it is set for release October 2024 with an album release show at Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club in Winnipeg. Stay tuned for western Canadian tour dates.
“Their music is a melting pot of folk and rock known for its vibrant, gritty, energetic, and authentic vibe.” - Stylus Magazine
About Ellen Froese:
Ellen Froese is what you'd call a “prolific artist”; committed, too. She's amassed a resolutely solid body of work and, with a variety of projects, achieved more than some many years her senior. For Each Flower Growing, Froese's fourth full-length, produced in collaboration with the Sheepdogs' Sam Corbett, is her most accomplished statement to date, drawing on her established sound as a folk & country-based singer/songwriter while incorporating a wider frame of reference in the rich production, supple instrumentation, and overall sonic soundworld. It's much harder to pin down than any simple description can convey, making it all the more worthwhile to check out.
In 2023 she toured with fellow Saskatchewan legends The Deep Dark Woods, followed by a prestigious writing retreat at The Banff Centre in January 2024. Shortly thereafter she toured cross country with The Sheepdogs and has recently showcased internationally at Viva Sounds (Sweden) Focus Wales (Wales), The Great Escape (UK). Notable recent notable domestic performances at Pop Montreal, M for Montreal, Mariposa Festival, and Yellowknife’s Snowking’s Winter Festival.
