About Byrun Boutin-Maloney:

Byrun is best known for his abstract visual art, characterized by bold colors, layered symbolism, and a dream-like quality. Working primarily with oil pastels, he outlines his figures and forms with a signature black line reminiscent of stained glass windows — evoking both spiritual clarity and emotional resonance.

His creative process is intuitive and layered, often beginning with spontaneous mark-making and handwritten phrases that emerge from the subconscious. As he builds up the piece, Byrun responds to what appears — channeling visual, emotional, and spiritual energies in real time. His work blends chaotic freedom with underlying structure, revealing themes of transformation, recovery, unity, and the sacredness of life. Drawing inspiration from mysticism, mythology, and personal experience, he allows each piece to unfold organically, trusting in the unseen forces that guide creation.

Byrun continues to explore new artistic territory from his studio in Estevan, Saskatchewan, where he remains committed to creating work that provokes, heals, and inspires.
