About Carl Mayotte :

Beginning to play bass in several events and bars in the Quebec region at the age of 16, I have sailed these past years through different styles and musical universes, while traveling my art through Quebec and several times in France. I also got the chance to play with many artists and musical bands of all kinds, from Bruno Pelletier to several Europe's Big Bands, while completing a Technical program at Notre-Dame de Foy Campus, a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Interpretation at Laval University and a Master's degree from the Jazz Faculty of McGill University.

These studies allowed me, among other things, to grow as a musician and especially as an arranger and composer. I developed techniques that helped me create musical arrangements to make a living, whether it was for symphonic orchestra for Chloé St-Marie, choirs of the Quebec City area or for producing more than five albums in the last five years, including Sénescence from the Nouvelle R group released in 2018, and my first opus: Fantosme, an album that was co-directed with the great Michel Cusson in 2019. This album has led me to win Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation in 2020 and to be a nominee at Premier Gala de l'ADISQ 2020 in the category Jazz Album of the year. My latest album, Escale, is the first project I'm releasing with my new record label Analekta. I offer you a new variety of emotions on this opus, and a new journey awaits you. 

Commençant à jouer dans plusieurs évènements et bars de la région de Québec à l’âge de 16 ans, j’ai navigué depuis ces années à travers différents styles et univers musicaux, et ce, en voyageant mon art à travers le Québec et plusieurs fois en France ainsi qu'en jouant avec diverses personnalités et groupes musicaux de tous genres, de Bruno Pelletier à des big bands d’Europe.

À travers ces aventures, j’ai complété une technique au Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy, un baccalauréat à l’Université Laval en Interprétation Jazz et je suis maintenant titulaire d’une maîtrise de la faculté de Jazz de l’Université McGill. Ces études m’ont permis, entre autres, de grandir en tant que musicien et surtout, en tant qu'arrangeur et compositeur. J'ai pu acquérir des techniques qui me permettent aujourd'hui de faire des arrangements pour gagner ma vie, autant pour orchestre symphonique pour Chloé Sainte-Marie que pour des chorales de la région de Québec ou encore pour réaliser et produire plus de cinq albums dans les cinq dernières années, dont Sénescence du groupe Nouvelle R paru en 2018, et mon premier opus, Fantosme, paru en 2019, un album co-réalisé avec le grand Michel Cusson. Fantosme m'a d'ailleurs permis d'être nommé Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada en 2020 et d'être en nomination au Premier Gala de l'ADISQ 2020 dans la catégorie Album Jazz de l'année. Mon dernier album, Escale, est le premier projet que je sors avec ma nouvelle maison de disque Analekta. Je vous propose une nouvelle variété d'émotions sur cet opus, et un nouveau voyage vous y attends.

Opener / First part: Christie-Anne Blondeau 
 
Christie-Anne Blondeau was barely 4 when the passion for singing and rhythm took hold of this unstoppable singer. Born in a small francophone village of Saskatchewan, Christie-Anne Blondeau had no idea she could sing in different genres therefore she followed her surroundings. She was always 'different' when she sang with others in her younger years. She was louder, prouder and braver when she had a microphone in her hand. To this day, the stage is her safe place and with microphone in hand (sometimes a mic is not even required because of the strength of her voice!), she takes command and brings you with her on her musical journey.
 
Christie-Anne Blondeau avait à peine 4 ans lorsque la passion du chant et du rythme s'est emparée de cette chanteuse inarrêtable. Née dans un petit village francophone de la Saskatchewan, Christie-Anne Blondeau n'avait aucune idée qu'elle pouvait chanter dans différents genres, elle a donc suivi son entourage. Elle était toujours "différente" lorsqu'elle chantait avec les autres dans ses jeunes années. Elle était plus forte, plus fière et plus courageuse lorsqu'elle avait un microphone à la main. Aujourd'hui encore, la scène est son lieu de prédilection et, micro en main (parfois, un micro n'est même pas nécessaire en raison de la force de sa voix !), elle prend les commandes et vous emmène avec elle dans son voyage musical.
