Lachlan Neville is a musician and songwriter from Rocanville, Saskatchewan, whose early passion for reading introduced him to the worlds of Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Steinbeck before he left elementary school. This love of literature, paired with the influence of his father’s ’62 Martin acoustic guitar, guided Lachlan toward the work of Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and John Prine, inspiring a deep commitment to songwriting. During the global pandemic, he dedicated time to refining his craft, developing a body of original material that quickly earned recognition.
A winner of the Nashville-based Henhouse Express Jr. Songwriting Competition, Lachlan worked alongside JUNO-winning producer Steve Dawson and performed at established festivals such as Big Flat Folk Festival, Gateway Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival, Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival, and All Folk’d Up. His talent has garnered the attention of Saskatchewan videographer little jack films and creative entrepreneurs Belle Plaine and Blake Berglund. Now, with Berglund at the helm as producer, Lachlan’s self-titled debut album will be released under the Western Seer Records imprint, marking an important step in his musical journey.
